The 2023 Hallow Student Easter Art Competition

Through his ‘artistic creativity’ man appears more than ever ‘in the image of God.’

St. Pope John Paul II

As students prepared for finals, projects, exams, and a highly anticipated summer, they took a break to showcase their incredible artistic talent for the first-ever Hallow Student Art Competition.

Art is one of the most unique and beautiful expressions of the Christian faith. For thousands of years, art has made tangible the personal and meaningful relationship with one’s faith. The allure of art, in part, comes from its universality among age groups, cultures, and centuries.

Inviting students of all ages from across the world to participate in the creation of artwork for the Hallow App, exemplifies the universality of even the artwork that appears on a phone or computer screen.

Students were asked to create a piece of religious artwork that would be considered for a month-long feature in the ‘Kids’ section of the Hallow App.

In just a few short weeks, students of all ages and grade levels submitted their artwork for consideration. Watercolor, pencil, crayon, and even some digital pieces were submitted with the hope that these pieces would be chosen as the winning artwork. The Hallow design team had the pleasure of reviewing the artwork and was incredibly impressed with the talent of the young students.

The winning artwork was produced by students who created pieces of art that not only showcased their talent but also incorporated beautiful and relevant images from our faith and remained cohesive with other art on Hallow. We are proud to announce the winners and honorable mentions from the 2023 Hallow Student Easter Art Competition!

“Art is something really special for me and one of the best things about it is being able to directly connect with the viewer and gain an understanding from just a picture. I’ve been raised Catholic all my life and for this painting I wanted to be able to give back to God using my talent.”

Prayer for Artists

Bless the creators, O God of creation,

who by their gifts make the world

a more joyful and beautiful realm.

Through their labors

they teach us to see more clearly

the truth around us.

In their inspiration

they call forth wonder and awe

in our own living.

In their hope and vision

they remind us

that life is holy.

Bless all who create in your image,

O God of creation.

Pour your Spirit upon them

that their hearts may sing

and their works be fulfilling.

Amen.
