      Life in the Church
      Come learn about life as a Catholic in "Life in the Church," a continuation of "Basics of the Church" and Hallow's OCIA program. This collection includes seeking to understand the Church's teaching on morality, social issues, gifts of the Holy Spirit, discipleship, mission, parish life and prayer. Each week will begin with a day of catechesis from Dr. Andrew Swafford. Then additional sessions of prayer throughout the week will help us integrate these truths into your spiritual lives.         14Prayer Before CommunionToday, we learn and pray with a prayer we can say before receiving communion written by St. Ambrose, a 4th century Bishop and key figure in the life of St. Augustine.

        15Gift of the Holy SpiritDr. Andrew Swafford returns for a time of reflection and prayer examining the power of the Holy Spirit and the gifts given to use through the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation, gifts that strengthen us to do God's work.

        16Sacred MusicContemporary music artists Matt Maher and Sarah Kroger will introduce how music can be another avenue for Scriptural prayer and serve as an aid for meditation. We'll close by listening to and praying with one of their songs.

        20St. Catherine of SienaIn this session, we'll spend some time learning about St. Catherine of Siena, one of four female Doctors of the Church known for her writings and bold efforts for Church unity in the fourteenth century. After learning about this great saint, we will pray with a prayer she wrote to invite the Holy Spirit into our lives.

        21Anima ChristiToday, we learn and pray with a prayer we can say after receiving Christ in the Eucharist called the Anima Christi, Latin for “Soul of Christ."

After learning about this great saint, we will prayer from poem found in her prayer book, and one that helps us to have peace in our lives.

        42Thanksgiving After MassToday, we learn and pray with a prayer of thanksgiving we can say after Mass written by St. Thomas Aquinas. As we pray, we will give thanks to the Father for feeding us with Eucharist, by which we are fortified and strengthened as we head out into the world after the Mass.
