        12 Steps to Recovery
Join Scott Weeman, founder of Catholic in Recovery, and producer Jim Wahlberg for this journey through the 12 Steps to Catholic Recovery. Maybe your struggle has a name, such as alcohol, lust, food, gambling, control. Maybe it doesn't, and you only know the fear, the resentment, the pattern you can't seem to break. Maybe you're here because someone you love is struggling and you don't know how to carry it. Wherever you're coming from, know this: you are not alone, and you are not beyond hope. Together we'll pray through each Step, hear from people who've lived them, and rediscover the mercy God is longing to give us. Learn more about Catholic in Recovery: https://catholicinrecovery.com

1The Universal Need for HealingWelcome to the 12 Steps to Catholic Recovery! Scott Weeman and Jim Wahlberg introduce the Twelve Steps as a Catholic path out of isolation, and invite you to name the one area where you most want freedom.
          Day 1: Scott & Jim9 min
2Step 1: Powerless & UnmanageableToday we pray with Step 1: "We admitted we were powerless over addiction, compulsions, and unhealthy attachments—that our lives had become unmanageable." We'll face two words most of us spend years running from and recognize the truth beneath them.
          Day 2: Scott & Jim9 min
3Step 2: Hope & RestorationStep Two says: "We came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity." In this session, Scott & Jim invite us to bring to mind one person whose faith has carried us and thank God for the hope they've given.
          Day 3: Scott & Jim8 min
4Testimony: Food AddictionListen to this real-life testimony of someone who struggled with food addiction and found healing when she turned to the Lord in faith and surrender.
          Day 4: Lucy14 min
5Step 3: SurrenderStep Three asks us to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God. Through Jesus's prayer in Gethsemane and the Third Step Prayer, we're invited to name one thing to surrender to God.
          Day 5: Scott & Jim9 min
6Step 4: Fearless InventoryStep Four says: "We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves." This can sound intimidating, but Scott & Jim show us how this step is all about telling the truth, not condemning ourselves.
          Day 6: Scott & Jim9 min
7Step 4: Recognizing Other PatternsStep Four invites us to look beneath our resentments and recognize the fears that may be driving our patterns. Through prayer and reflection, we're invited to name what we're afraid of and bring it into the light, remembering the truth: "Lord God, You are with me right now."
          Day 7: Scott & Jim8 min
8Testimony: Alchohol AddictionListen to this real-life testimony of someone who struggled with addiction and fear and hear how an encounter with Christ opened the door to healing, freedom, and a deep understanding of God’s love.
          Day 8: Pete16 min
9Step 5: ConfessionStep Five invites us to bring what we’ve been carrying into the light. Scott & Jim explore the healing that can come from sharing our struggles honestly and reflect on the mercy the Lord offers us when we step out of hiding.
          Day 9: Scott & Jim8 min
10Step 6: WillingnessStep Six asks: Are we ready to let God remove the defects of our character? Today, Scott & Jim share honestly about their own struggles with anger, control, and self-pity, and ask us to join them in praying, “Lord Jesus, make me willing.”
          Day 10: Scott & Jim9 min
11Step 7: HumilityStep Seven invites us to receive God’s grace with humility. Scott & Jim reflect on letting go of pride, self-will, and control, and trusting the Lord to transform what keeps us from Him.
          Day 11: Scott & Jim9 min
12Testimony: Affected by AddictionToday, listen to a personal testimony from someone who has experienced the effects of addiction within their family. Hear how recovery helped her let go of the need to fix what she could not control and learn to fully trust God with her loved ones, becoming a vessel for His love.
          Day 12: Jean9 min
13Step 8: Christian LoveToday, Scott & Jim explore Step Eight and what it means to become willing to make amends to those we’ve harmed. Through prayer and reflection, we’re invited to see others with love, release resentment, and prepare our hearts for healing and repair.
          Day 13: Scott & Jim10 min
14Step 9: Amends & ReconciliationToday, Scott & Jim explore Step Nine, which calls us to make direct amends with the people in our lives. They reflect on what it looks like to move beyond apology toward true repair, always trusting God with what comes next.
          Day 14: Scott & Jim9 min
15Step 10: Daily BreadToday, Scott & Jim explore Step Ten and the practice of daily conversion: taking inventory, promptly admitting when we’re wrong, and beginning again. Through the Ignatian Examen, we’re invited to notice God’s grace, recognize where we’ve gotten off track, and trust Him with the next right step.
          Day 15: Scott & Jim10 min
16Testimony: Sex AddictionListen to this real-life testimony on the 12 Steps to Catholic Recovery, produced by Catholic in Recovery. ***Note: This session contains discussion of topics related to Sex Addiction. Listener discretion is advised.
          Day 16: Bernard13 min
17Step 10: AbidingStep Eleven asks us to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. Today, Scott & Jim share what it means to remain in Christ, and guide us in the importance of a daily habit of honest prayer.
          Day 17: Scott & Jim11 min
18Step 11: DiscernmentIn today's session, Jim and Scott explore Step Eleven's call to seek "knowledge of His will" through discernment. Drawing on St. Ignatius's teachings, they offer practical questions to help you recognize God's voice from your own will.
          Day 18: Scott & Jim11 min
19Step 12: ServiceStep Twelve asks: what do you do with everything you've received? Jim and Scott explore the quiet, ongoing nature of spiritual awakening — and why, as Jim's sponsor put it, "the way you keep what you've been given is by giving it away."
          Day 19: Scott & Jim9 min
20Step 12: Confirmation & MissionJim and Scott close out Step Twelve by exploring what it means to practice these principles "in all our affairs" — not just in meetings, but in marriage, work, and the ordinary friction of daily life. They frame the Twelve Steps as a complete path for anyone seeking a genuinely honest, humble, and grace-filled life.
          Day 20: Scott & Jim10 min
21Sent ForthOn this final day of the journey, Jim and Scott return to the image of the vine and the branches, inviting listeners to reflect on how far they've come since Day One. They close with gratitude and a blessing to keep coming back whenever old patterns return.
