Hallow Studios to bring film to the Hallow app and U.S. & Canadian theaters in early 2027
CHICAGO – Oct. 16, 2026 – Hallow is excited to announce its partnership with producer and actor Chris Pratt for “Pétros Ení — Discovering the Origins,” a new documentary that takes audiences to the tomb of St. Peter beneath the Vatican.
The film launched today at the Rome Film Festival, a month ahead of the 400th anniversary of the consecration of St. Peter’s Basilica on Nov. 18. Filmed on location in Rome, Vatican City, and inside St. Peter’s Basilica, the film offers never-before-seen footage of the secrets that lie underneath the world’s largest church, and features Pope Leo XIV in an extended reflection, the first time the Holy Father appears in a feature film.
Through a partnership with Vatican Media and AF Films, Hallow is the exclusive distributor of the film in the United States and Canada, and will release the film theatrically and in the Hallow app during Lent 2027.
“When I first saw this film it changed my life. I think it is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. It is an honor to get to partner together on it,” said Alex Jones, Hallow CEO and co-founder. “And the fact that it is led by one of our core Hallow partners in Chris and features such a powerful reflection from Pope Leo is just truly extraordinary.”
Greek for “Peter is here,” Pétros Ení is an inscription found layers beneath the altar at St. Peter’s, long believed to signify the burial site of the first pope and apostle Peter. While mystery has long swirled around the final resting place of the simple fisherman from Bethsaida, the film explores the truth of the ancient legend: is Saint Peter really buried under the basilica that bears his name?
“Pétros Ení — Discovering the Origins” marks one of the first film projects for Hallow Studios, building off of the success of its previously released “Holy Week in the Holy Land,” an immersive video series filmed in the Holy Land and starring Jonathan Roumie and Jeff Cavins, in April 2025.
