May is the month of Mary. This month includes the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, celebrating Mary’s apparition to three shepherd children in Portugal in the early twentieth century. We also celebrate the Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, and the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin, when Mary, pregnant with Jesus, visited her cousin Elizabeth, pregnant with John the Baptist. We also celebrate Mother’s Day in the U.S. on the second Sunday of May — May 14, 2023.
St. John Paul II said, “From Mary we learn to surrender to God’s Will in all things. From Mary we learn to trust even when all hope seems gone. From Mary we learn to love Christ her Son and the Son of God!”
